  I trained with Professor Mendes for well over a year before moving away and do not have a single negative comment. His school is by far the biggest thing I miss about my time in FL. Professor Mendes runs a competitive academy while still maintaining a welcoming environment for students of all levels. I now train at a different school in NYC and am even more impressed in hindsight with Professor Mendes’ teaching ability and school culture. His instruction will focus on minor aspects of moves and positions and then he will spend as much time during drills helping white belts as he will assisting higher levels. I highly recommend RMBJJ for everyone from brand new students to black belts and if it was possible to still attend classes at the academy I would be there every single night.
